The City of Perth has launched a new campaign to raise awareness of safety in the City 24/7.
See it. Say it. encourages everyone to use the 24/7 response service to report issues and behaviours impacting safety in our community.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the service was something many people weren’t aware of.
“We have a nation-leading surveillance centre, with almost 700 cameras, staffed by a team of security experts, including WA Police, around the clock,” Mr Zempilas said.
“We also have a physical presence on our streets, with a dedicated team of rangers, cleaners and mobile parking patrols working hand in hand with our surveillance centre. We are a 24/7 operation and we are here to help.
“Call 9461 3333 to let us know about something that might have made you feel unsafe. It might be antisocial behaviour, you might want to request a welfare check on someone you’ve passed in the street or you might simply have seen someone spill their milkshake and it needs to be cleaned up.
“We can all do our bit to keep the City of Perth safe. If you’re feeling concerned about something you’ve seen, tell us and we’ll have someone there to take your call whatever time of the day or night,” he said.
“By simply letting us know, you’re helping us make the City of Perth a better place to live, work and play. We can target our resources where they are needed to better protect everyone.” Mr Zempilas said.
A recent survey found 85% of respondents did not know about the 24/7 phone number.
“The more people are aware of our 24/7 service, the more reports we receive and the better the outcome.
The City of Perth values its partnership with WA Police, who are present in our surveillance centre 24/7.
We can all do our bit. Community safety is a shared responsibility and we all have our part to play. Together we keep our City safe.
