A fresh exhibition of playful, joyful artworks specially chosen to appeal to young children is on display at CS Gallery in Caroline Springs now until 27 February.
Titled Let’s Play, the exhibition incorporates colourful and fun sensory experiences for kids and the young at heart.
It investigates play from a child’s perspective, incorporating images of toys and large and tiny scale objects that encourage a sense of wonder and curiosity.
Viewers can explore works on paper, ceramics, art murals and a giant piñata all by emerging and established Melbourne artists and brought together by curator Tegan Iversen.
City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli said Let’s Play was an experience for all ages.
“This bright and lively art is made for children and is sure to bring out the curious and playful side in everyone,” Cr Carli said.
“Come along to see and feel the sensory experiences for yourself and join in a celebration of the joy, colour and wonder of childhood.”
To celebrate the exhibition, Melton City Council is hosting special events for kids at the Caroline Springs and Melton libraries this month and next including piñata making, felt flower workshops, zoo collage workshops, and storytimes with illustrator and artist Tai Snaith.
A family day will also be held on Saturday 18 January at CS Gallery and Caroline Springs Library with drawing and colouring workshops, a book reading by illustrator Evie Barrows and a fun-filled tour of the artworks (bookings essential).
