Serious assault charges at Pimpama, QLD

Detectives have charged a man after he allegedly pushed a woman from a van at Pimpama last night.

It will be alleged at 9.32pm a van was headed northbound at exit 49 off the Pacific Motorway when the woman was pushed from the vehicle which had stopped on the side of the road.

The van then drove off.

It will be alleged the woman hit her head on the concrete barrier and she was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

An 18-year-old Shailer Park man surrendered to police at the scene a short time later and has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm (domestic violence) assault (domestic violence) contravention of domestic violence order and drive whilst disqualified.

He will appear before the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.

The man and woman aged in her 20’s are known to each other.
