Police have charged a 24-year-old woman after the alleged serious assault of a man at Southport last night.
Around 6.50pm a 43-year-old man was walking along Scarborough Street when a woman armed with a broken bottle attacked the man striking him to the neck.
The man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police searches located the woman in a nearby shop at Scarborough Street.
A 24-year-old Southport woman has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
She is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
Investigations are continuing.
