Serious three-vehicle crash in Colyton

A man has been critically injured following a three-vehicle crash in Colyton.

Shortly after 8.50am yesterday (Saturday 30 April 2022), emergency services were called to the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Melbourne Street, Colyton, after reports a Dodge sedan, Subaru hatch, and a Toyota van had crashed.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and located the three vehicles in the right-hand turning lane, westbound on the Great Western Highway.

The driver of the hatchback – a 25-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Nepean Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the van – a 31-year-old man – was taken to Nepean Hospital for mandatory testing, but has since been released.

The driver of the sedan – a 35-year-old man – was submitted to a roadside breath test, producing a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to St Marys Police Station and subjected to a breath analysis, which allegedly produced a positive result of 0.074.

The man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, drive with low range prescribed concentration of alcohol and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).

He was bail refused to appear before Penrith Local Court today (Sunday 1 May 2022).
