Shake & stir theatre co returns to Dubbo with bold new take on classic

Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre is set to welcome back the nationally renowned shake & stir theatre co; which will perform its latest classic fiction adaptation, Jane Eyre, next month. Described as “a blazing success” and “another shake & stir production destined for hit status”, Jane Eyre will be performed live at Dubbo on Wednesday 7 September.

shake & stir is one of the largest privately-owned and operated theatre companies in Australia; renowned for its innovative stage adaptations of classic fiction, as well as its critically-acclaimed high-quality productions.

Dubbo audiences will be no stranger to shake & stir’s innovative productions following performances of Animal Farm, Dracula, Wuthering Heights, 1984 and children’s show Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes & Dirty Beast in recent years.

The subject of this month’s performance – Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre – has been described as one of the most influential books of the 19th Century, and an iconic example of English Literature.

“We are so thrilled to be bringing Jane Eyre to Dubbo, as part of our eight-month national tour. shake & stir has always relished its time spent in the region and we look forward to bringing one of the company’s largest touring works – in all its blazing glory – to the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre,” shake & stir’s Artistic Director, Ross Balbuziente said. The theatre company’s stunning new production features original music written and performed live on stage by multi-ARIA Award-winning artist Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus).

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australian Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
