Shaping Transport Future For Northern Victoria

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government will partner with the City of Greater Shepparton to look at new ways to improve the local transport network across northern Victoria.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne today announced a $70,000 Labor Government investment towards the Greater Shepparton Integrated Transport and Land Use Study through the Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program (FLTSP).

The City of Greater Shepparton will also contribute $30,0000 towards the study, which will update freight and industry trends and changing land-use patterns to inform any decision making for the future transport needs of Shepparton and surrounding communities.

Shepparton plays an important role for the region, including in freight, logistics and warehouse distribution activity.

This study will help guide planning for economic development, particularly in supporting the continued growth of agriculture, manufacturing, transport logistics and tourism industries as well as informed, better coordinated transport infrastructure and service planning decisions at the local level.

The Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program provides funding to local government and community organisations for small-scale transport projects, evidence-based transport studies, and funding to redesign and trial new ways in which transport services at a local level can be delivered across the state.
