On arrival crews were faced with a shed eight metres by four metres fully alight.

An internal attack was conducted and the fire was brought under control in 30 minutes.

Healesville Captain Graeme Bates said members worked hard to put the fire out.

“We set up two protective equipment units (PE vans) at one end and had two attack lines, one internal and one external,” Graeme said.

“The fire was pretty aggressive; the owners had a lot of belongings in the shed so the fire grew quickly. One gas bottle had already exploded prior to us arriving on scene.”

Fifteen members from Healesville responded in four vehicles, Badger Creek Fire Brigade was also on scene with four members in one truck.

“Members worked really hard using BA [breathing apparatus] equipment.

“We managed to put the fire out in just over 30 minutes. Although the shed was still standing it was a write off.”

Investigators found a battery charger was the cause of the fire.
