Shellharbour City Council has commenced construction this week as part of the Reddall Reserve Promenade Renewal Project.
The renewal project will provide new and improved foreshore seating, increased pedestrian accessibility, improved stormwater provisions, reduced maintenance and provide greater connection to the wider Reserve.
Council will receive a $2.5 million contribution for the delivery of the Reddall Reserve Promenade renewal project as part of the NSW Government Public Spaces Legacy Program.
The funding is part of $250 million going towards over 100 public open space projects in 60 council areas across NSW.
Council has been working with landscape architects to develop concept designs for the Reddall Reserve Promenade and engaged Dynamic Civil to construct the space.
The design incorporates feedback from the community identified in the Reddall Reserve Masterplan.
Shellharbour City Council Mayor Chris Homer said securing the funding was a collaborative effort by many teams across Council.
“This funding is important to our community as it will significantly improve one of the city’s most popular outdoor spaces. These spaces connect us, inspire us and make us healthier and happier,” Mayor Homer said.
“I look forward to seeing the improvements and upgrades to our foreshore area,” he said.
