Shepparton police investigate theft from motor car

Shepparton Volume Crime Reduction Team detectives are investigating following the theft from a car in Shepparton last month.

The incident occurred on Collet Street when an offender gained entry into a car parked in a private driveway on 2 September about 7am.

Investigators have been told that an amount of cash was stolen from the vehicle.

Detectives have released an image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He was wearing a black shirt over a white t-shirt, a black cap and carrying a backpack.

There are a number of simple steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of a vehicle-related theft.

? Lock your car at all times – even when parking at home in the driveway or garage.

? Secure your keys and never leave them in your car.

? Park in well-lit and secure areas if possible.

? Don’t leave valuable items, including tools, in your vehicle.

? Trades people should lock their vehicles and secure their tools even when they’re on a building site.
