Simple Solution to Medicare Rorting

Doctors' Reform Society

‘The recent media reporting of Medicare rorting serves to highlight the predicament primary care in particular confronts at this time. Most GPs do not rort the system. Some unscrupulous entities use the fee for service system to milk Medicare for all they can, often legal but no doubt unethical’ claimed Dr Peter Davoren, President, DRS.

The Doctors Reform Society calls on the Government to move away from a fee for service system of payment and introduce systems relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Dr Davoren, said ‘ salaried GP positions, federally funded community GP clinics and/or payment by patient enrolment are all options that should on the table’.
