Territorians will have more travel choices, with Singapore Airlines set to increase frequency of flights between Darwin and Singapore to a daily service.

The carrier has been offering non-stop flights five days a week between Darwin and Singapore, which will increase to daily from 31 March 2024.

In positive signs for the Territory tourism industry, the additional capacity supports a sharp increase in inbound and outbound international travel this year.

The Darwin – Singapore airline route is the most direct international air service connecting the Northern Territory with the key international markets in the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.

Flights are timed to connect travellers seamlessly at Singapore Changi Airport with Singapore Airlines’ Asia, Europe and some North American destinations to provide a one-stop journey between Darwin and the airline’s global network.

Tourism NT is continuing work with Singapore Airlines on cooperative marketing campaigns to promote the route, to bring more visitors to the Territory by keeping the destination front of mind for those booking a holiday.

Singapore Airlines Group has a long-standing partnership with the Northern Territory having first operated Singapore to Darwin flights in 1999.

Quotes from Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Nicole Manison:

“This is a significant milestone for Darwin’s aviation capacity and fantastic news for Territorians.

“Today’s announcement supports the NT’s trade and investment objectives, connecting business travellers with international markets, and increases liveability factors for Territorians who enjoy travelling offshore for leisure and to visit friends and family.

“Singapore Airlines is a globally respected brand, and its presence and ongoing commitment to the Territory is a testament to Darwin’s profile as a thriving international city.

“The Territory Labor Government will always advocate for Territorians and invest in our aviation sector to ensure locals get the best possible access to air services.”
