COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,664 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 15,825 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 80s, a woman over 100, a man in his 70s, three men in their 80s, and two men in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 246 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 144 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 98 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and four have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found 98.2% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday 6,528 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 18.2% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,186 PCR tests were positive, while 1,478 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.8% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.8% of eligible South Australians and 68.1% of South Australians aged 16+.
