COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,307 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 18,150 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 40s, a man in his 70s, a man in his 90s, a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 60s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 104 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including nine people in ICU, and one person requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 58 people are fully vaccinated, 22 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 24 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 97% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 11,926 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 1.6% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,682 PCR tests were positive, while 625 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 94.7% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 92% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 68.4% of eligible South Australians and 56.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
