Southport’s Nerang Street will come to life with market stalls, live music and talented foodies showcasing some truly unique dishes this Friday evening (24 February) at the first CBD Sundown Twilight Markets of the year.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate says the free entry family and dog-friendly affair is another not-to-be-missed Southport event and end of summer celebration.

“The markets will offer discoveries and bargains at every stall alongside some amazing food choices,” Mayor Tate said.

“As always, Southport’s restaurants and bars will do their best to impress while QLD Vegan Markets will set up with a large selection of sustainably sourced cruelty-free food.

“And in what will doubtless surprise many people, the vegan offerings include plant-based burgers, pizza, cupcakes, sushi, tacos, ice cream, doughnuts, hot dogs and dog treats.

“It’s all about letting the tastebuds try something new,” he said.

Non-vegan food trucks will also line the street, there’s a pop-up bar and a Desert Digs Vintage Market will be onsite with an old-fashioned rummage sale of pre-loved vintage and up-cycled fashion and jewellery not found anywhere else.

Mayor Tate said the markets will be the perfect way to bring the sun down on the working week.

“Elska and The Atlantic Salmon will play some great tunes and help make the markets the perfect place to unwind, an ideal place to catch up with family and friends or to enjoy a different sort of date night,” he said.

Market-goers are encouraged to catch the G:Link which arrives at and departs the Southport Station every 15 minutes or make their journey active by walking, riding, scooting or skating.
