Speeding driver crashes at Valley View

An inexperienced driver is lucky to have escaped serious injury after crashing into a car at Valley View overnight.

Just before 12.30am on Wednesday 29 July, patrols spotted a Commodore sedan speeding along Walkleys Road. Police did a u-turn and travelled south on Walkleys Road in an attempt to catch-up with the car however, they lost sight of it.

Patrols then spotted the same car on Cornell Avenue and as they drove over a crest, saw it had crashed into a Nissan sedan parked in the street before crashing into a Commodore station wagon parked in a front yard. The rear tyre of the speeding Commodore broke off and struck a Hyundai sedan parked opposite the house.

The provisional driver, a 20-year-old man from Highbury, was reported for driving without due care and fail to maintain vehicle standards due to the poor condition of the tyres.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
