Speeding drivers nabbed – Pooraka

Two young drivers had their cars impounded for at least 28 days after they were detected racing at Pooraka on Monday night.

Just after 8.30pm on Monday 30 March, a mobile camera car was set up on Main North Road, when it detected a black Ford Falcon travelling south at 149km/h in the 70km/h zone, while a blue Subaru posted a speed of 174km/h at the same time.

Following the incident a traffic enquiry was sent out for police to locate the drivers as soon as possible.

And today ( Wednesday 1 April ) a 21-year-old man from Craigmore and 19-year-old man from Valley View, were both reported for driving at a speed dangerous to the public, with the younger man also reported for preaching his provisional licence.

While police have impounded both vehicles for 28 days, both drivers will be summonsed to court and could face lengthy licence suspensions and further confiscation of their cars.
