Steaks are high so come and meat us at Agquip

NSW Nationals

The 50th anniversary of Agquip at Gunnedah sees the return of the popular NSW Nationals steak sandwich.

Agquip is Australia’s largest premier primary industry field days.

It starts tomorrow – Tuesday, August 22 – and runs until Thursday, August 24, and more than 100-thousand people are expected to attend.

Nationals Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said our pollies are picking up the tongs for a good cause, helping raise funds for local community-based organisation Gunnedah Family Support.

“The return of Agquip is welcome news for the Gunnedah community, who are looking forward to the major boost the event brings to the town and to the local business community,” Mr Anderson said.

“The event is one of the biggest on our region’s calendar, providing a significant economic boost and having a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing of our farmers.

“Agquip is a great opportunity to get together and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the largest agricultural field day in the Southern Hemisphere.”

Mr Anderson said one of the most recognisable sights and smells of Agquip is the iconic steak sandwich which always draws in the hungry masses.

“This year, our National Party stand will again have our famous steak sandwiches on offer, cooked by State and Federal MP’s.

“It’s all for a good cause too, helping raise funds for Gunnedah Family Support, who look after those in the community who need our support most.

“The steaks have been kindly donated by Teys Tamworth, who are proud to continue their involvement in our Agquip fundraising drive.

“Last year, we raised $1,328.35 for Gunnedah Family Support, and I’m hoping that we beat that record, giving the organisation an opportunity to help more people.

“I’m looking forward to another successful Ag-Quip for 2023 and hope to see plenty of locals soaking up the atmosphere.”

The Nationals will be at site J-24 all day every day of Agquip, with steak sandwiches available from 12 noon.

Kevin Anderson and Mark Coulton will be wielding the tongs on Tuesday, Barnaby Joyce will be doing the honours on Wednesday, and Mark Coulton and the Gunnedah branch will be feeding the troops on Thursday.
