Stonnington invites you to shape your neighbourhood

City of Stonnington is taking a new place-led approach in the development of the next Economic Development Strategy, aligning to the Council’s forward thinking ‘Future Stonnington’ Plan.

As an integral part of this, Council is calling out to communities for feedback, to gauge expectations and sentiment around its most popular shopping and business precincts.

The place-led engagement program will see Council working alongside businesses and residents over the next few months, to analyse the places where people choose to live, work and shop, and to hear from people on what could be better and what is most valued. With insights gathered across seven major neighbourhood areas, the program will inform how Stonnington’s shopping precincts could be reimagined for the future.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Jami Klisaris, said that this is the first piece of engagement in a project which will reshape how we think about and plan for Stonnington’s neighbourhoods and precincts.

“We’ve developed a number of targeted surveys that ask for honest feedback on what matters most to the community, and we’re encouraging anyone who lives in Stonnington to voice their opinions.

“Each neighbourhood is different, and that’s why when we’re planning for the future, we need feedback on each area individually. We want to increase economic opportunity and make our neighbourhoods more about the people who use them.

“The last couple of years has been particularly challenging, so this study will help determine the transformation of many of our centres, and put the life back into the places we call home,” Cr Klisaris said.

Each survey should take no more than five minutes to complete and participants have the option to complete more than one survey if they wish, should they work, live or shop in more than one area. All answers remain anonymous.

The closing date for the survey is Sunday 20 February.
