The ACT Government is pleased to support the Housing Accord announced by the Albanese Government in today’s Budget.
We are pleased to play our part in a shared and ambitious national agenda to address housing access, affordability and choice.
Working collaboratively with Commonwealth and other States and Territories, we have agreed on a policy framework that:
- Sets an aspirational national target of delivering one million new, well located homes over 5 years from 2024.
- The ACT will seek to exceed our per capita share of those one million homes.
- Working collaboratively with the Federal Government and institutional finance to improve the financing for new social and affordable housing projects.
- The Build to Rent Prospectus released by our Government in August aligns with these broader objectives.
- Agrees to the improvement of zoning, planning and land release.
- Which will be delivered in the ACT through the Planning System Review and Reform Project
