The Crisafulli Government is delivering for Queensland with more primary industries innovation, boosting biosecurity, bolstering Beef 2027, and a plan to drive on-farm profitability and prosperity in the 2026-27 Budget.
The $863 million Primary Industries Budget is strengthening the foundations for a fresh start for better services through a stronger economy.
Through Prosper 2050, the Crisafulli Government is continuing to deliver upon the shared vision to make the State’s primary industries, including fisheries and forestry, more profitable and productive, driven by whole of government, stakeholder and community collaboration.
Through the Sowing the Seeds of Farming Innovation Fund Queensland will develop cutting edge innovation and technology to support industry and boost Queensland’s primary production output to $30 billion by 2030.
Protecting our primary industries from the threat of invasive pests and diseases, the Crisafulli Government is boosting frontline biosecurity officers across the State and will reestablish a northern biosecurity defence line disbanded by Labor.
Additional funding will help the ongoing battle to eradicate and suppress fire ants in Queensland, which remain one of Australia’s most significant biosecurity threats, and will help protect our outdoor way of life with continued access to parks, beaches, backyards and sporting fields.
The Sunshine State is home to the largest premier beef event in the southern hemisphere, Beef 2027, and the Crisafulli Government will ‘beef’ up the event to make it bigger and better than ever in 2027, driving new and more profitable opportunities for Queensland producers and supporting the Central Queensland economy.
During the decade of decline under the former Labor Government, opportunities for growth and prosperity were left to wither on the vine, the entire industry suffered the consequences of no direction, no vision, no serious investment, and onerous red tape and regulatory burden.
Labor left Queensland exposed and vulnerable to biosecurity threats, presiding over a loss of 1 in 5 frontline biosecurity officers between 2015 and 2022.
Treasurer David Janetzki said the 2026-27 Budget was about delivering for Queensland with better services through a stronger economy.
“We are delivering on our promises, with relief you can rely on through responsible decisions for now and the future, and no new or increased taxes,” Treasurer Janetzki said.
“This Budget strengthens the foundations we’ve laid making Queensland safer, restoring health services, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, building generational infrastructure, getting the Games back on track, as well as playing our part to ease national cost of living pressures.”
Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said the Crisafulli Government was backing farmers, fishers, foresters and producers with practical investments to grow the sector, protect rural and regional jobs and strengthen Queensland’s economy.
“Queensland’s primary producers are world-class, and we are continuing to deliver the tools to help them continue innovating, adopting new technology and turning good ideas into better results on farm,” Minister Perrett said.
“By investing in research and innovation, as well as practical projects, we are supporting the industry to lift productivity and help Queensland reach its target of $30 billion in primary production output by 2030.
“We are also strengthening biosecurity protections, including reestablishing a northern biosecurity line of defence, and continuing to put more biosecurity officers on the frontline, to protect our world-class produce and livestock.
“By backing Beef 2027, Queensland will showcase the best of our cattle industry to Australia and the world.”
