Study Hubs To Boost University Participation

The Albanese Government’s focus on establishing more Regional University Study Hubs across Australia will help open the door to a university education for more Australians.

“The announcement of locations for 10 new study hubs is a welcome step in bringing university closer to regional Australians,” Universities Australia Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.

“This is a key action item in response to the findings of the Universities Accord interim report. It will help broaden access to university for people who may not otherwise pursue a degree.

“Australia needs more university graduates to support our economy into the future, many of whom will need to come from the outer suburbs of our major cities and our regions.

“Professor Mary O’Kane’s final report to government contains further measures to boost university participation of Australians from the outer suburbs, the regions and disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Universities Australia has called on government to prioritise such recommendations in the forthcoming federal budget.

“These are sensible initiatives that could move the dial on participation among underrepresented student cohorts while addressing skills shortages and supporting Australia’s economic needs.”
