Summer Sundays to return with bang

Ballarat’s favourite free live music event is coming back for another month of epic entertainment to kick-start an exciting year of events.

Fully supported by the City of Ballarat, Summer Sundays will this year feature an impressive range of local musicians, emerging artists, and household names.

More than half of the performers in the 2023 event will hail from Ballarat, delivering on the city’s Creative City Strategy, and the Ballarat Event Strategy.

Each Sunday will see four different acts on-stage between 4pm-8pm, with a spectacular fireworks display to cap off the January 15 show at 9.30pm over Lake Wendouree.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said the events would be a fantastic way to start 2023 in the city.

“What better way is there to kick back on a Sunday afternoon in summer than to indulge in some brilliant entertainment in your own backyard?” Cr Hudson said.

“As a Council, we are extremely supportive of live music and the creative industry and the latest Creative City Report Card shows how much the sector is booming in Ballarat.

“It’s going to be another terrific display of entertainment and the best part is, it’s absolutely free.”

In addition to live music, local and regional food and beverage vendors will offer a range of cuisine at each Summer Sundays event.

The pop-up Garden Bar, highlighting some of the Ballarat region’s best wine, spirit and beer producers will return in 2023.

The Bean Bag Lounge will also be back, although numbers are limited. Patrons are welcome to bring their own rug and picnic.

The Summer Sundays events are a staple of a busy schedule organised by the City of Ballarat events team over the warmer months, with the Federation University Road National Championships, Lake Wendouree Fireworks and the January 26 Picnic in the Park.
