Supercars fans in Townsville can meet with and get autographs from their driving heroes at Council’s SuperFest street party on Thursday, 6 July.
SuperFest will be held from 4-6pm in Flinders Street East ahead of all the excitement of this year’s NTI Townsville 500 from Friday, 7 July to Sunday, 9 July.
Townsville fans can get up close and personal with their favourite drivers with this welcome event to include a drivers signing session, Supercars SuperKids Zone, the Hot Wheels stunt team, cars on display, and live and roving entertainment.
Mayor Jenny Hill, who met with Supercars legend Craig Lowndes at the NTI Transporter Parade yesterday, said SuperFest was a perfect way for Townsville fans to give visiting Supercars stars a warm welcome to our great city.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Townsville to meet with their favourite drivers and wish them well before they take to the Reid Park circuit that weekend,” Cr Hill said.
“Townsville City Council has always been a proud supporter of the NTI Townsville 500 and SuperFest is a fantastic way to kick off what will be an incredible weekend.
“There will be something for the whole family to enjoy with live music, entertainment and a full line up of Supercars drivers at an all-in Signing Session.
“I’d encourage everyone to head to Flinders Street East and join in the festivities, plus there will be free posters so you can grab autographs before the drivers hit the track on Friday at the NTI Townsville 500.
“We would also encourage anyone visiting our city for the Townsville 500 to get involved in all the excitement on Council’s Northern Australia Festival of Arts (NAFA).”
The award winning NAFA has already welcomed thousands of visitors to the nationally-renowned arts festival this year, with the program running through until Sunday, 9 July.
