The Crisafulli Government is making Yeppoon safer by partnering with Livingstone Shire Council to deliver more CCTV along James Street and Normanby Street.

Funding from the Secure Communities Partnership Program, and together with the Livingstone Council, will help boost the safety of the business precinct.

The funding is part of the Crisafulli Government’s plan to make Queensland safer, after Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis left small businesses at risk.

Minister for Small and Family Business Steve Minnikin said the Crisafulli Government was making Queensland safer by partnering with local governments to support small and family businesses and their staff.

“We are making Queensland safer with a boost to CCTV for Yeppoon, helping prevent crime before it happens to reduce the impacts of Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis on small businesses,” Minister Minnikin said.

“We are partnering with councils to implement critical safety upgrades that deter crime and protect local small and family businesses.”

Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton said when local small businesses were safe, they could focus on what they did best, serving their communities, creating jobs, and driving the local economy forward.

“We’re here to make sure we are delivering on the promise of giving businesses in this area of Yeppoon the security and safety they need to grow and prosper,” Mr Hutton said.

“This is all part of the Crisafulli Government’s plan to help deter crime and improve community safety for small businesses, their staff and their customers.”

Mayor of Livingstone Shire Adam Belot welcomed the partnership with the Crisafulli Government to deliver important safety initiatives for local small and family businesses.

“This joint funding will deliver three multi-head CCTV cameras along James Street and the eastern-most block of Normanby St in the Yeppoon Town Centre,” Mr Belot said.

“This is a key commercial and pedestrian precinct and cameras will be strategically placed at three new locations to maximise coverage of foot traffic and retail frontages.”
