The Tasmanian Liberal Government is increasing opportunities for women and girls to participate in all levels of sport, including coaching.
We recognise that female participation in leadership positions within sporting organisations – including as coaches, administrators, and officials – is lower than males and we are working hard to change this.
That’s why the 2021-22 Budget delivers a $1.65 million commitment over the next four years to support Football Tasmania’s men’s and women’s Talent Support Programs and grassroots football development in our State.
Football Tasmania is implementing a range of initiatives with this funding, including the Women’s Coaching Scholarship.
The scholarship will provide the opportunity for at least five female coaches to complete the Football Australia ‘C’ licence course, with at least one recipient to be selected from each region of the State.
Each scholarship includes a $1,200 contribution toward the course fee plus the cost of their attendance at the 2021/22 coaches conference.
Additionally, coaches will receive ongoing support from Football Tasmania’s Coach Development Manager and Female Development Officer, and participants of the program will have the opportunity to travel interstate as an assistant coach at the Girls National Youth Championship in 2022.
