Supporting small businesses with free pop-up coworking spaces

The Yarra Ranges community is enriched by our diverse and varied businesses, and we’re home to a significant number of small businesses, microbusinesses, freelancers, commuters, flexible workers, and home businesses; all and more of whom may benefit from coworking spaces.

Council, in conjunction with Eastern Metropolitan Partnership, is running a series of free pop-up coworking spaces to offer anyone in our community the opportunity to take some time away from their home offices and re-connect with like-minded businesses.

We’re also interested in measuring the appetite for coworking spaces in our community and will explore how we can further support this in a more permanent way.

Coworking has so many advantages, from a dedicated workspace to networking opportunities, to the practical advantages of things like free Wi-Fi.

Another advantage of coworking spaces is getting workers back into our business precincts, supporting local businesses and reactivating our communities. Every person who utilises our coworking spaces will get a voucher to a local café.

After the combined effects of the pandemic and the 2021 Storms, supporting our small businesses get back on their feet is a key aspect of Council’s Recovery Plan.

The coworking spaces will be running in Monbulk and Montrose this month.
