In recognition of the valuable contributions women make to our seafood industry, the Tasmanian Liberal Government is pleased to be working with Women in Seafood Australasia (WISA) to offer two bursaries to this year’s Seafood Directions.
The $10,000 funding contribution is part of the Wild Fisheries Action Plan, an election commitment to support the commercial fisheries sector.
The bursaries are designed for women, who are passionate about their work and the seafood industry, and who want to develop their networks, connections, skills and capacity.
Women will be mentored throughout the three-day conference and attend WISA-specific workshops and events including a workshop to develop actionable plans to address barriers to women’s progression in the seafood industry, and a session on story telling for business marketing and communications.
The opportunity is open to all women involved in Tasmanian commercial or indigenous fisheries, aquaculture or post-harvest businesses or organisations.
Seafoods Directions is a national forum that provides an opportunity to promote the seafood industry, discuss industry issues, workshop solutions, teach best practices, share knowledge, and plan for the future of the seafood industry. The bursaries will provide a key opportunity for participation.
