Sydney Science Festival returns to Hawkesbury Central Library for 2019

After a sold out event in 2018, Hawkesbury City Council is pleased to announce that Hawkesbury Library Service will once again participate in the Sydney Science Festival.

Come along on Tuesday, 13 August from 6:30pm to 7:30pm for a fascinating talk with Bronwen Roy from Western Sydney University to hear about the infectious disease threats facing bees.

Bees credit Bronwen RoyHoneybees are of huge economic importance due to the vital role they play in pollinating a wide variety of commercial crops. However, honeybees are threatened by infectious diseases, meaning alternative pollinating insects may be needed to help them out. Australian stingless bees are one such alternative but can stingless bees be safely introduced to work alongside honeybees to tackle this shortfall? As a PhD candidate, Ms Roy will explain the potential for honeybees to share their diseases with stingless bees and vice versa.

Tickets are free however bookings are essential, via www.hawkesburylibrary.eventbrite.com or call 4560 4460.

The event will be held at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor.
