Take a fresh look at slow fashion and artful living

With many Sunshine Coast residents experiencing a much slower way of life during the COVID-19 pandemic, now is a great time to take a fresh look at how we live and Sunshine Coast Council’s fabric – Slow Fashion, Artful Living program could be the perfect place to start.

Celebrating the rich talents of Sunshine Coast artisans and designers, fabric brings art and sustainability together in a curated program of design and artful lifestyle activities.

Community Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said the Sunshine Coast was attracting and supporting a local textile and fashion industry that had a strong understanding of the value placed on environmentally conscious design, handmade and sustainable production.

“This is the third and final year of our fabric program, and the variety of events on offer provides a great opportunity for the community to get involved, be better informed or simply inspired to bring to life our healthy, smart, creative vision,” Cr Baberowski said.

“There are many ways we can all embrace small positive changes that can have a big impact on the way we live and our impact on the environment.”

Over the next few months, you can immerse yourself in a program of workshops including shoe making, mending, cooking, sewing, re-purposing and embroidery, plus exhibitions, professional development and more.
