Tasmanians set to be slugged with more power price rises 24 February 2024

Tas Labor

Tasmanians are set to be slugged with yet another power price rise as network charges from 1 July this year.

Basslink has submitted a request to the regulator to $112 million worth of new charges while TasNetworks will implement its own price increase of 14.2% for households. This will cost hundreds of dollars a year for households during a cost of living crisis.

This only makes it more critical that we pay Tasmanian prices for Tasmanian power.

Our policy means Tasmanians will pay Tasmanian prices and the average household will save $400 a year.

Tasmanians built and own the Hydro and Labor will ensure we pay a Tasmanian price for Tasmanian power.

The Hydro wasn’t built to make massive profits at the expense of ripping money out of the pockets of Tasmanian families.

It was built to provide Tasmanians with affordable power and a Labor government will make sure that’s what happens.
