Taxi driver charged over sexual touching in Woolloomooloo

A taxi driver will face court today charged over allegedly indecently assaulting a passenger in Woolloomooloo last week.

About 9.50pm on Thursday 5 December 2019, an 18-year-old woman entered a taxi on Pitt Street, Sydney, to head for a hostel in Kings Cross.

Police will allege in court that the male driver drove into a laneway in Woolloomooloo before allegedly indecently assaulting the woman, a Canadian National.

He then drove her to Darlinghurst Road at Potts Point, where she exited the vehicle.

Officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man at a home in Granville about 1pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 December 2019).

He was taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of sexually touch another person without consent.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 12 December 2019).
