Teen charged after alleged stolen motorbike seized – Operation Regional Mongoose

A teenager will face court with alleged driving offences from the state’s northwest overnight.

About 1.30am today (Friday 29 September 2023), police attached to Oxley Police District attempted to stop a motorcyclist carrying two passengers on Links Avenue, Tamworth.

The motorcyclist took off at high speed and police lost sight.

Following inquiries, including the use of PolAir and other specialist resources, police attended a home in Tamworth and located a motorbike in a yard about half an hour later.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

He was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, motor bike passenger no helmet/fitted/adjusted, and breach of bail.

Checks reveal the motorbike was allegedly stolen from a home at St George, QLD, earlier this month.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Friday 29 September 2023).
