A teenage boy will face court today charged with assaulting a police officer and possessing a knife in Sydney’s west.
About 4.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 2 September 2026), officers attached to Police Transport Command – with the assistance of Nepean Police Area Command – were called to a train station on Jane Street, Penrith, following reports of a brawl.
Police were told several people were fighting when one allegedly produced a knife.
Officers responded and arrested a 16-year-old boy nearby a short time later.
Police will allege the teenager assaulted a responding officer following the arrest. The officer was uninjured and did not require treatment.
Police will allege when the teenage boy was search a machete was found in his pants. It’s been seized for further examination.
The 16-year-old boy was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with custody of knife in public place, carry knife visible in public place-cause fear for safety, affray, and assault police officer in execution of duty.
He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Wednesday 3 September 2026).
Inquiries are continuing.
