A teenager has been charged as investigations continue into an alleged road-rage incident in Sydney’s west.
About 1.50pm yesterday (Friday 20 November 2020), a B-Double semi-trailer was travelling along the Hume Highway at Chullora, when a Mazda 3 allegedly accelerated to block the vehicle from changing lanes.
The male driver and passenger of the Mazda stopped a short distance later and allegedly approached the 38-year-old male driver of the B-Double.
Following a verbal altercation, a hammer was used to smash the front and drivers-side windows of the B-Double, before the occupants of the Mazda left the scene.
The driver of the B-Double sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
About 5pm, a 19-year-old Yagoona man was arrested at Bankstown Police Station.
He was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, destroy or damage property, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, not keep left of median strip-motor vehicle, driver not disclose identity of driver/passenger as required and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Police will allege in court the man was the driver of the Mazda 3.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 21 November 2020).
Investigations into the incident are continuing and police are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.
