Temporary indoor playground set to reopen

Orange Council

After a successful run last winter, the temporary indoor playground at the Orange Indoor Tennis Centre will reopen at 10am this Sunday, July 2.

Orange City Council Sport and Recreation Policy Committee Chair, Cr Tammy Greenhalgh said local children had a great time at the playground last year and was pleased they would once again have somewhere to play indoors this winter.

“It’s beneficial for parents and caregivers to have a warm place for children to play during the coldest months of the year,” Cr Greenhalgh said.

PLAYTIME: The popular inflatable obstacle course has returned to the Orange Indoor Tennis Centre.

“I am grateful that the Orange Indoor Tennis Centre has come on board again this year to provide a space for the playground and to manage its day-to-day operation.”

During the school holidays, starting Monday 3 July, the indoor playground will be open from Monday to Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

After the school holidays, the indoor playground will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 1pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. The indoor playground will be closed on Wednesdays.

Play equipment includes soft-play items such as jumping castles, a ball pit and inflatable obstacle course. The playground is suitable for children aged from preschool to primary school.

Entry costs $10 per child for a two-hour session. There is no need to book.

There will be a café providing coffee, tea and cold drinks, hot chips, toasted sandwiches, fish and chips, cakes, lollies and popcorn. Please do not bring your own food and drinks.

Orange City Council recently sought expressions of interest to establish and operate a permanent indoor playground in Orange.

“Council is currently exploring options for a more permanent facility that can operate throughout the year. I am excited to see what develops in future,” Cr Greenhalgh said.

The temporary indoor playground is expected to be open at least until the end of winter. The Orange Indoor Tennis Centre is located at 9 Palmer Street, behind the Orange Function Centre.
