  • $20.45 million invested by the Palaszczuk Government
  • The Palaszczuk Government has commenced more than 5000 social homes since 2015, and that number will increase to 13,000 homes by 2027.
  • Construction has also commenced on the 500th development under the Housing and Homelessness Action Plan, located in Kingaroy.

Construction has been completed at Brisbane’s newest social housing development in Windsor with tenants set to begin to move in next month.

The project has been built by BlueCHP with an investment of $20.45 million from the Palaszczuk Government, as part of the state’s commitment to bolster social housing availability.

The units boast one or two-bedroom homes which are in high demand from households requiring housing assistance.

The Palaszczuk Government is also celebrating a significant milestone, funding it’s 500th commencement by a community housing provider since July 2021, under the State’s second Housing and Homelessness Action Plan, with a development at Kingaroy, in the South Burnett Region.

The build in Kingaroy has received more than $1 million in funding from the Palaszczuk Government and will see three two-bedroom units built on land provided by the South Burnett Regional Council.

Quotes attributable to Housing Minister Leeanne Enoch:

“The Palaszczuk Government continues to back big investments in social housing, so I’m pleased to see another project ready for tenants on the social housing register to move in,” the Minister said.

“These units will provide safe, secure housing for those who need it most and add to our growing supply of social and affordable housing right around the state.

“Thanks to our government’s $2 billion Housing Investment Fund, we’ll see more of these important developments come to life in the coming years.”

“We are seeing the greatest demand in Queensland right now for smaller households requiring one or two-bedroom homes, which is why this development couldn’t have come at a better time.

“Whether it is regional Queensland or suburban Brisbane, we know there are people in need, and that is why we will continue to invest in projects that provide safe and secure housing.”

Quotes attributable to Blue CHP CEO Charles Northcote:

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Queensland Government to deliver much needed social housing across Queensland. Windsor, and its Lutwyche sister project, delivered under the Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027 initiative, have collectively to date provided 80 new apartments for social housing residents.

“These completions signal our intention for a much larger program in partnership with the State Government to address housing needs.”

“Having participated in the Queensland Housing Summit, BlueCHP brings leadership and the capacity to deliver much more.”
