She said, “I want to tell you how much I, and I’m sure other volunteers, appreciated this thoughtful gesture. It was really comforting to know that we hadn’t been forgotten and were still valued even if we can’t be active during this time.”
For the past three years, Volunteer Shirley Goss has been volunteering with a social group for older people at Kilburn Community Centre. While she says every week is special, her favorite things is, “Calling bingo which is as taken as seriously as an Olympic sport! I’m kept on the straight and narrow to make sure I call the “right” numbers and there are always lots of laughs!”
She added “The old saying that you get more from volunteering than the people you volunteer for do, is very true. Plus the PAE council do value and appreciate their volunteers!”
