Third boy charged after shopping centre fire at Dubbo, NSW

A third boy has been charged after several fires were allegedly deliberately lit in a shopping centre in Dubbo at the weekend.

Staff responded to a small fire in a store about 3.50pm on Saturday (23 April 2022), and immediately evacuated the business.

Fire and Rescue NSW responded and examined the location; police were told the fires had been deliberately lit in four different locations.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District were alerted and commenced an investigation.

Two boys – aged 17 and 12 – were charged on Wednesday (27 April 2022) and will appear before a children’s court in May and June respectively.

Following further investigations, a 14-year-old boy was arrested at an address in Dubbo about 4pm yesterday (Thursday 28 April 2022).

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with destroy property in company use fire.

The teen was given conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Monday 20 June 2022.
