Three charged and more than $500,000 of stolen goods recovered, NSW

Three men have been charged as part of an ongoing investigation into the theft of more than $2 million worth of electronic equipment during commercial break-ins.

In January 2019, detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Buttre to investigate a number of break-ins at retail stores and commercial properties across the Sydney Metropolitan area and the Central Coast.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators, with the assistance of officers from Mt Druitt and Fairfield City Police Area Commands, executed search warrants at Rooty Hill, Wetherill Park, and Mt Druitt yesterday (Monday 4 February 2019).

Detectives seized 100 mobile phones, watches, head phones, computer tablets, televisions, cameras, power tools, and other electronic items, all of which are alleged to have been stolen.

Three men, aged 25, 30, and 35, were arrested during the warrants and taken to local police stations.

The 25-year-old Mt Druitt man was charged with four counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

The 35-year-old Rooty Hill man was charged with four counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Tuesday 5 February 2019).

The 30-year-old Wetherill Park man was charged with five counts of receive/dispose stolen property, and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 20 February 2019.

Investigations under Strike Force Buttre are continuing, and further arrests and charges are expected.
