Detectives investigating a stabbing at Newtown at the weekend have charged a further three teens in relation to the incident.
Emergency services were called to King Street, Newtown just after 12.30am Saturday (25 July 2026), following reports a teenager had been assaulted by a group of people who then left the scene.
A 17-year-old boy was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to hospital in a stable condition for treatment of multiple stab wounds to his head and back.
Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene and recovered two knives. These have been sent for further examination.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Newtown Police Station, where he was charged with affray. He remains before the courts.
Following inquiries, three boys – all aged 17 – were arrested today (Tuesday 28 July 2026), by Inner West Detectives and taken to Newtown Police Station. Three search warrants were executed at Abbotsford, Haberfield, and Leichhardt where items allegedly relating to the offence were seized.
Each has been charged with wound person with Intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, and custody of a knife in a public place.
They have been refused bail to appear before a children’s court today.
The injured boy has been released from hospital.
