The time has come for big event and sports fans from across Australia to secure seats for one of the nation’s greatest sporting rivalries – AMPOL State of Origin Game II.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow for this highly anticipated clash at Optus Stadium on June 26.
The McGowan Government, through Tourism WA, announced last year that Perth secured Game II of the three-game series between the New South Wales Blues and the Queensland Maroons.
The announcement was a major win for Western Australia, with State of Origin widely considered one of the biggest annual sporting events in Australia in terms of its ability to attract crowds, both at the stadium and through television broadcasts to millions of viewers.
Perth became the centre of a rugby league fan-frenzy in June 2019, when Optus Stadium hosted its first-ever State of Origin game in front of a sold-out capacity crowd of more than 59,000 people.
The event had significant benefits for WA, with more than 11,600 out-of-State visitors spending more than $19 million and staying more than 69,000 nights combined in the State.
Television broadcasts of the game, which included promotional vision of WA as well as showcasing the spectacular Optus Stadium venue, was watched by more than 2.8 million viewers.
Fans are urged to get in quick to secure their seat for this year’s State of Origin Game II, which will be released in stages.
Tickets will initially be sold for every second row of the stadium, in keeping with the 50 per cent capacity rule under current WA Government health restrictions.
There will be a second release of tickets when the stadium’s capacity limits increase.

“This year’s match will again showcase just how good WA is at hosting a big sporting event – whether it be the AFL Grand Final or State of Origin.
“It is far more than just a game of rugby league.
“State of Origin provides a huge boost for tourism businesses – particularly accommodation providers, restaurants, cafes and tour operators.
“On top of that, the event’s television broadcast gives us an incredibly valuable platform to promote the attractions of our State to potential visitors.
“Today’s announcement comes as Tourism WA begins ramping up its Wander Our Yonder campaign on the east coast.
“For those travelling to WA for the match, I urge you to stay in the State a little longer to discover more exciting WA experiences while you’re here.”
