Time to prepare your Bushfire Plan

Felix Ellis, Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management

The latest Tasmania Fire Service Bushfire Awareness Campaign has been launched to remind Tasmanians to get bushfire ready ahead of Summer.

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, said it is so important to be prepared for the bushfire season by having a plan because Tasmania has one of the most bushfire prone landscapes in the country.

“Preparing a bushfire plan could save your life and the lives of those you love,” Minister Ellis said.

“Tasmanians need to know their risk, develop and practice bushfire plans, know how to access information through TasAlert, and review their area’s Community Bushfire Protection Plan.”

The bushfire awareness campaign launched today has a simple message: Now is the time to prepare a bushfire plan.

“Being prepared can make it less stressful and may reduce the impact it has on you and your loved ones if a bushfire does occur near you,” Minister Ellis said.

“As the campaign says – Bushfire, why risk it?”
