Toowoomba Regional Council Capital Works projects now online

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) continues down the path of greater financial and budgeting transparency with the placement of the 2024/25 capital works projects online.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald described the initiative as important in increasing the community’s trust in Council’s decision making.

“In recent months we have amended our financial reporting and continue to look at further ways we can improve the way we present information to our community,” Cr McDonald said.

“It is a new term, and Councillors are intent on taking the opportunity to make improvements,” he said.

“In today’s digital age, where data is the backbone of business operations, it’s essential we provide and manage our data in line with ratepayers’ expectation.

“By putting our full capital works projects online, residents will be able to access updated information on the projects as they happen in their neighbourhood and see how their money is being spent.

“By putting these projects online where they are easily accessible, we’re hoping to establish clear linkages between our financial reporting and spending and Council’s overarching long-term strategic operational plans.

“To do this we’re undertaking targeted improvements to make it easier to share information with residents in an easy to decipher manner.

“This new capital works projects page will allow residents to track projects of interest, monitor potential weather impacts and have greater awareness on Council’s prioritisation of projects.

“I think we need to be very open with how we spend ratepayers’ money and allow access to the data that drives our decision making.”
