Touch down in Grapevine Texas

Barossa Council

A Barossa delegation will touch down in Texas next week to cement a new Sister-City relationship with the City of Grapevine.

It comes after Council hosted a contingent from Grapevine during the Barossa Vintage Festival in April, recognising the two regions’ mutual interest in wine, heritage, events and cultural tourism.

Mayor Bim Lange will be joined on the tour by Acting CEO Jo Moen, Barossa Australia representatives and Barossa wine ambassadors between 12 and 18 September.

Mayor Lange said the visit presents many exciting opportunities, with the aim of strengthening economic, cultural and educational ties between the two regions.

The whirlwind itinerary will include visits to arts and cultural precincts, wineries, education districts and civic facilities, and marks the beginning of new friendships and understanding with our international counterparts.

The Sister City agreement will be formally ratified at the 37th annual Grapefest, the largest wine festival in the Southwest.

Grapevine is an extremely well-established destination for cultural, wine and tourism events, with deep ties to heritage and character preservation – things we are equally passionate about in the Barossa

– Mayor Bim Lange

“We look forward to not only enjoying their Southern hospitality but building a deep and lasting Sister-City relationship that will deliver mutual benefits for decades to come.”
