Six Townsville artists and arts groups will receive crucial funding towards their work thanks to the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
Townsville Folk and Acoustic Music Club, Isabelle Reynaud, NQ Queer Society, Georgie Desailly, Jordan Galliott, and Big Eye Theatre have each been successful in securing funding as part of round one of the RADF 2023/24 program.
RADF provides funding for projects that promote and develop arts, culture, and heritage in Townsville and is delivered as a partnership between the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Townsville City Council.
The total value of grant funding for the six applications is $48,907.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said RADF was a valuable avenue for Council to support Townsville’s arts and cultural groups and community members to pursue creative ideas and initiatives that enhance the vibrancy in Townsville.
“Council values the Townsville arts community’s work, which helps to drive our local economy and provides a point of public interest for our city,” Cr Greaney said.
“We received 12 applications for this round of RADF funding, with six of these applicants recommended for funding.
“I’m happy to see an interesting variety in these successful applications, including event production training, a debut album, a music program for Townsville’s LBGTQIA+ residents, the drafting of a non-fiction book, a dance experience, and a First Nations arts market.
“Each of these projects shows great potential and I’d like to extend the best of luck to each recipient as they work towards delivering their final works.”
