Townsville City Council has opened the doors to Pink fans after installing three doorways across the city similar to the prop used by the popstar in her Summer Carnival concert.
The replica doors have been installed along The Strand, Central Park and Victoria Bridge as Townsville is set to welcome more than 40,000 out of town visitors for Pink’s concert.
Pink is set to rock the stage at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Friday and Saturday night.
Bring Pink to Townsville Facebook group’s Kylie Morgan said the doorways were the perfect way to welcome concertgoers to the stadium.
“We had a few people doubt Pink would make her way to North Queensland and we are beyond excited for her to be coming to Townsville,” Ms Morgan said.
“This will be one of the biggest events to come to Townsville and it is great to see the community embrace it.
“Seeing the mural of Pink in the city, the city lit up pink, businesses getting behind the concerts, the doorways, the excitement on locals’ faces and having the Street Beats performers have all created a buzz in the city.”
A Townsville City Council spokesperson said Townsville was ready to welcome tens of thousands of Pink fans.
“Businesses are stocked up and ready to go, our city has been given the Pink treatment and residents are excited to see the international popstar performing at Queensland Country Bank Stadium,” they said.
“Parking in the city is free today, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday and our Street Beats music trail is on before the concerts and will feature local artists playing music for the walk from The Strand to Central Park.
“Our city is once again showing it knows how to host big events and it further reinforces our reputation as the events capital of northern Australia.”
Townsville Enterprise CEO Claudia Brumme-Smith said Pink’s visit will generate almost $50M in economic benefit for the city and attract tens of thousands of visitors to the region.
“Businesses across Townsville North Queensland have been gearing up to host international mega popstar Pink, and we are excited to see the region activated and ready for her arrival,” Ms Brumme-smith.
“Pink’s concert was a major coup, cementing the region as the events capital of the North, being able to attract an artist of Pink’s calibre to Townsville North Queensland showcases our region as a place to live, visit and invest.”

Pink is performing over two nights at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
