Truck driver fined for Covid breach

Police have fined a Sydney truck driver following investigations into his movements whilst travelling in Queensland.

The 38-year-old man travelled to Brisbane from Sydney as a freight operator on September 16 before attending a location in Brisbane, in breach of strict freight protocols.

He subsequently tested positive to Covid-19 in Brisbane and remains in quarantine.

This morning, police issued the Punchbowl man with a Penalty Infringement Notice amounting to $1,378 for failing to comply with the freight protocols as set out in the Covid-19 Border Direction.

Freight operators are being reminded of their obligations under the strict freight protocols whilst in Queensland with police taking enforcement action against those found to be flouting the rules.
