Turning Tassie Teal for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Madeleine Ogilvie,Liberal Member for Clark

On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I am pleased to welcome the JackJumpers’ announcement and launch to turn Tassie Teal for Ovarian Cancer during the month of February.

Each year in Australia, more than 1,500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month seeks to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and to recognise women, their families, and friends affected by ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer can occur in any woman, but the risk increases in women over 50 years of age. More than 90 per cent of all ovarian cancers occur in women who do not have a family history.

It is wonderful to see the team using their position to not only educate the Tasmanian community about early detection and cancer specifically but also to raise vital funds to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer and their families.
