Two people have been charged following an alleged pursuit in a stolen vehicle this morning.
Between 12am and 3.30am (Friday 24 July 2026), two vehicles – a Jeep Cherokee and Honda CR-V – were allegedly stolen from a Port Macquarie home.
Between 12.10am and 12.30am, a further two vehicles – a Toyota sedan and Mercedes sedan – were allegedly stolen from a Thrumster home.
Following inquiries, police recovered the Toyota and Mercedes sedans in the Kempsey area about 2am.
They were seized and towed from the scene to undergo forensic examination.
About 7.20am (Friday 24 July 2026), officers attempted to stop the Jeep Cherokee on the Pacific Highway near Lake Innes.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
Moments later, police successfully deployed road spikes near the Bago Road Interchange at Herons Creek, slowing the vehicle.
The vehicle exited the Pacific Highway towards Kew, driving through several streets before re-entering the Pacific Highway.
Further road spikes were deployed and the vehicle continued driving at slower speeds to Moorland where the vehicle stopped.
The occupants – a 16-year-old boy and 21-year-old man – were arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station.
The alleged driver, aged 21, was charged with three offences,
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 tomorrow (Saturday 25 July 2026).
The boy was charged with breach of bail, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Friday 24 July 2026).
The 2018 white Honda CR-V, registration DXX47C, is yet to be recovered.
It was last seen driving north on Macleay Valley Way at Kempsey shortly after 4am.
Inquiries into the incidents are ongoing.
